Mercy in Action
This week’s blog features “mercy in action” by Adelante Mujer friends and donors around the United States.
Being Merciful Like God is Merciful
Mercy Sunday will be observed on April 3rd.
How often do we think about mercy? Until Pope Francis declared a Jubilee Year of Mercy to extend between December 8, 2015 and November 20, 2016, most of us probably paid little attention to Mercy Sunday or even the importance of practicing mercy in our everyday lives. A long, long letter arrived after the graduation of Dr. Cindy. In her letter titled “My Gratitude,” Cindy thanked Adelante Mujer donors:
A Sad and Determined Student Doctor
Sometimes a visit with medical students in Nicaragua can reveal some pretty deep sadness. One such experience occurred last month during a meeting with six of the Adelante Mujer third-year students.
A Student’s Amazing Gratitude
Mark Neilsen wrote a short reflection for Christmas Day in Living with Christ. Mark used the verse from Luke’s Gospel, “All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds.” He then asked, “Can you think of the last time you were amazed?”
Our Newest Adelante Mujer Student
Interviewing potential recipients who apply for financial assistance from Adelante Mujer is one of the responsibilities and privileges of the Executive Team member who visits Puerto Cabezas each semester. Hearing the stories and the need of each student is inspiring, to say the least. The following story is not one I could have anticipated.
